Olano visits!!!

Olano hopped the pond and stayed with us in our little ex-council house flat this weekend! Some highlights from his trip:

  • A tour of Bobby's school on Friday... We saw Bobby's locker, one of his classrooms, and Mike got to meet some of Bobby's classmates.
  • Walked along the Thames and saw Tower Bridge & Shakespeare's Globe Theater

  • We did a walking pub tour along the Thames with Andrew, Katie & Annie (another visitor of Andrew & Katie's from San Fran!). We learned a little more about the history of the city, checked out where they filmed scenes from Bridget Jones and also Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels and drank some local brews.

  • Olano and I went to Portobello Road to do some shopping - he ate some delicious schnitzel and I bought a new top.
  • Olano and Annie went on the London Eye
  • Taco night at Andrew & Katie's, then off to a pub in Belsize Park for a drink. Sang the mamas and the papas and talked with a couple about planning a trip to Cornwall to see the country.
  • Riding home at 4am on the top deck of the night bus
  • Sunday roast at a local pub, followed by some shopping at TopShop.

One more day before he leaves - we don't want him to go!!

Dee tours London while Bobby goes skiing in Germany

Last week, Dave (who I used to work with in Boston) came to London for work and ended up staying the weekend! I ended up not having to work (yay!) so we toured all around - drinks in the City and dinner in Covent Garden on Friday, then on Saturday we caught the changing of the guards and did the one day version of the tour of London (which, needless to say, involved about 5 miles of walking - minimum). And it was a beautiful day - probably low 60's in February. Changing of the guards was impressive, but unfortunately mostly takes place behind the gates of the palace. It's about an hour long and the guard's band plays music for most of it. Believe it or not, they played Elton John and "a groovy kind of love" -ha. Wasn't expecting that.

Saturday night we met up with some other PwC friends (an made some new friends!) at Shannon's birthday party at a pub in Notting Hill/Kensington. We had lots of laughs, a couple zambuca shots and enjoyed being able to sit on the patio in mid-February since it was so gorgeous outside!

Bobby went skiing in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (???) in Germany, on the border of Austria with Katie and Andrew. Bobby will blog and put up pictures soon!
